'Voices from the Forest' trailer played at the IUCN World Conservation Congress
The IUCN green list of Protected and Conserved Areas is a programme of certification for protected and conserved areas – national parks, natural World Heritage sites, community conserved areas, nature reserves and so on – that are effectively managed and fairly governed.
During the IUCN World Conservation Congress in Marseille (September 2021), Madagascar committed to reaching the standards of the IUCN green list for its protected areas.
We were invited to present our film's trailer "Voices of the Forest" at a plenary session discussing "Solutions and innovations from around the world in how to achieve fair and effective conservation in and around protected and conserved areas". James Hardcastle from IUCN introduced the film, making the point that the sort of challenges our film highlights are common in many protected areas around the world.
Tiana Andriamanana from the Malagasy conservation organization Fanamby spoke eloquently about the Malagasy context.
